Don’t add fuel to the fire

Fuel prices are always the centre of much debate, and with the Chancellor of the Exchequer planning a further 2p per litre rise in September’s budget, fuel price rises show no sign of relenting.

With the impact of these price hikes, it’s vital that companies think smarter about how they use fuel more efficiently and economically. This is where tracking becomes more than just a vehicle locator.

Good vehicle tracking allows you to monitor all routes taken and analyse whether these were in fact the most direct. Alternatively, by studying the vehicle tracking data, you may see that on certain routes a vehicle spends too long stuck in queues or waiting at traffic lights – burning fuel without even moving. By assessing all of this data you can look at alternative routes and timings to improve the cost efficiency of your operations – saving not only valuable fuel, but potentially man hours as well.

So while there is little anyone can do to reduce the cost of fuel, by being a bit more savvy you can make sure you’re getting the most for your money from the fuel you do buy.
